Course Descriptions

This course aims to: (1) Appreciate how human beings, in different religions, cultures, and communities throughout the ages, have responded to grief, illness, bereavement, death, and dying; (2) Address issues related to coping with the subject of dying and bereavement, and caring for the dying; (3) Comprehend the complexities of current legal and ethical issues on death and dying (e.g. advanced directives, euthanasia, suicide, HIV/AIDS, etc.); (4) Provide an opportunity to assess one’s personal beliefs, attitudes, values, and fears toward death and dying.
