Course Descriptions

The objectives of this course are to enable the students to: 1) Acquire a comprehensive foundation in sound and music for film. 2) Develop listening skills in order to recognise and analyse the techniques used in music composition and sound design in relation to visual images. 3) Become familiar with the various types of music, sound effects, silence and dialogue and how it complements the plot in a film. 4) Become conversant enough in music and film terminology in order to participate in class discussions. 5) Develop an appreciation of the skills required for successful creation of music and sound for film.
